Translating the beauty around me into tangible form.

Born in Farmington, Michigan, and raised in Franklin, Tennessee, I discovered my passion for visual expression at a young age. I spent my formative years learning to paint and draw under the guidance of well-known artist Mary McDaniel. She introduced me to charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, and oil paint, unlocking a creative spark within me. In those early days, my artistry was a deeply fulfilling hobby—a source of immense joy that allowed me to explore textures, shapes, and colors.

When it came time for college, I decided to blend my love for discovery with science. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and later attended the Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics. This launched my 28-year career in sonography, specializing in vascular ultrasound. Interestingly, ultrasound always came naturally to me because of my art background. Where others saw static echoes, my artistic training allowed me to discern subtle shades of gray and effortlessly translate two-dimensional screen images into three-dimensional human anatomy. Today, I am proud to serve as a lead technologist and clinical instructor, helping to nurture and train the next generation of clinicians.

While my days were filled with medicine, my creative journey took an unexpected and beautiful turn in my mid-twenties. A friend introduced me to pottery classes at the Ocean Springs Recreation Center, and I immediately fell in love with clay. I became completely immersed in ceramics, spending every ounce of my free time outside the hospital lost in the rhythm of the pottery wheel.

Mississippi’s beautiful Gulf Coast became the place where my husband—my college sweetheart—and I chose to grow our roots. Together, we have raised two amazing boys who keep us incredibly busy with sports and school activities. Ocean Springs is not just where we raised our family; it is the ultimate muse for my work.

Now, in this rewarding tenure of my life, I have a clear goal: to fully pursue my true desire for ceramics. My handmade, functional art is heavily inspired by my natural Gulf Coast surroundings. I carry my first love of drawing into my pottery by carving intricate designs and textures directly into the clay. I strive for organic, timeless designs that bring elegance and warmth to a beautiful home, finishing them with unrepeatable, watercolor-inspired glazes that capture the shifting coastal light. What began with a paintbrush has beautifully evolved into clay, and I am thrilled to share these pieces with the world.
